Celebrating 28 years skiing with our VIPs

Snowbizz was really created by our friends.  Michel worked for the mountain rescue team in Puy St Vincent and I had been working for a UK ski operator. By the time we married in 1986 we had a group of friends visiting us pretty much every week of the ski season. Before long we were taking a small block of charter seats organised through my lovely old boss, Vic Fatah, at Ski Sunmed who helped us a lot in the early days.

The first ski season was more like a sit-com, literally all our friends were pitching in helping in whichever way they could. Mum had just retired and ran the office in the UK (my uncle’s dining room), close friend Maggie was our airport rep, I was resort rep again and Michel, when he wasn’t rescuing people off the mountain, was ski guide with a weekly trip to Serre Chevalier on his day off. Everyone loved skiing with him and it was a very special time for us surrounded by friends.

Another close friend, Jo, even set up a dragon’s den style meeting with her husband’s boss, the wonderful Eddie Jordan. Our pitch to Eddie was cringe-worthy, but he somehow managed to keep a straight face and gave us lots of great advice, and on our next pitch to Nat West they actually said yes! Small as we were, we became ABTA and AITO members with our very important ATOL licence.

Our VIP guests who make Puy so special

On the back of so much goodwill, twenty-eight years on we’re still surrounded by friends, and their friends, who’ve made all this happen which is definitely why Puy is so special. And with super friendly mountain people, it would be hard not to full in love with a place where you’re welcomed and made to feel as an important a part of the ski scene as the locals themselves.

The goodwill and recommendations from our guests is enormous and has made us what we are today. Many of our original skiers still travel with us and play a major part of making the whole Snowbizz experience so special. Thank to to all our guests who have travelled with us over the years. We hope we get to see more of our original skiers this season and we look forward to welcoming new families to Puy.

Our team of VSPs

Then there are the other very special people – our team. Starting with Sarah and Jo in the UK office, through to our resort team, like extended family we’re proud to offer a different level of friendly personal service where we really do know every one of our guests.  And with Michel on hand every day in resort it can’t get much better.

Finalists – British Travel Awards 2014

And now you’ve done this for us! You’ve always been so generous with your lovely feedback and recommending so many friends, but from all the team, a huge thank you to everyone who voted for us – you’re all a very special part of Snowbizz. Being told we’re finalists in the British Travel Awards means so much to us – because it came from you!
